WHEN CAN I GET BACK TO " INSERT ACTIVITY YOU LOVE HERE"
This is a question we get asked a lot. How long will it take to recover and when can I get back to my life. We understand! We are planners too and want to know when we can feel our best again and get back to the activities we love.
Every injury is very different in terms of healing times and even the same injury being experienced by two different people can have wildly different healing times.
We could always go into our textbook answer and give you some obscure range of X amount of weeks you “should” be healed by. Instead, why don’t we discuss some ways that you can help minimize any setbacks or delays to recovery.
WAYS YOU CAN HELP US GET YOU BACK TO FEELING YOUR BEST
- Do your exercises: it may sound simple but the better you are at adhering to the home program we have sent you home with, the better chance we have at building on the progress we made at your last appointment and not chasing it. Not doing your exercises is essentially allowing us to take two steps forward during your treatment and then taking one step back before we get to see you again.
- Listen to your body: we know you are eager to get back to your busy and fun filled life but pain is generally a warning sign from your body telling you to slow down and rest. If you aren’t taking your foot off the brake and ignoring swelling, pain and other warning signs, you are just prolonging your healing time
- Trust your therapist: our team of experts has your well-being and personal goals at the forefront of their rehabilitation plan for you. Do your best to integrate their suggestions and tips into your lifestyle.
