WHAT DOES AN APPOINTMENT LOOK LIKE?

Acupuncture treatments consist of the stimulation of specific points, identified by anatomical and physiological standards, as well as by manual inspection and palpation. Stimulation of points elicits a predictable physiological response including neurophysiological responses in the muscles, spinal cord and brain, as well as biochemical and hormonal responses in the body. These responses change the body’s experience of symptoms, especially pain, or trigger the release of substances, which influence the body’s internal regulation. This includes the administration of manual, mechanical, thermal, and Electrotherapeutic stimulation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

No, it doesn’t hurt!

Treatments are very relaxing, my needle technique is very gentle and effective, the majority of the times my patients are so relax that is normal to have a little “Acu-nap.”

In my practice, I use very fine, high quality disposable needles to stimulate specific anatomic sites in your body, this helps to trigger the nervous system response helping to strengthen the body’s  functions, promoting a faster healing processes.

Scientists and doctors have several proven theories to explain the benefits of Acupuncture

*Neurotransmitter Theory

Acupuncture stimulates the release of specific neurotransmitters that stimulate the immune system  function

*Autonomic Nervous System Theory

Acupuncture stimulates the release of norepinephrine, and stimulates several types of opioid  receptors creating a positive affect to the nervous system, helping to reduce pain and  inflammation.

*Vascular-Interstitial Theory

Acupuncture affects the electrical system of the body. This facilitates healing by allowing the  transfer of material and electrical energy between normal and injured tissues. This electrical  energy is part of what we call “Qi” in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

“Qi” is the vital force of energy and the transformation potential in every living organism  and its parts.

You can call it ATP (Adenosine triphosphate), this is the molecule that carries energy within  cells. All living things use ATP.

*Blood Chemistry Theory

Acupuncture can both raise and diminish peripheral blood components, regulating the body  helping the individual to be in homeostasis, stimulating better blood circulation.

Acupuncture works cumulatively in a series of treatments, so we encourage you to experience what it has to offer by committing to your treatment plan. With each treatment improvements build up from the last, if your symptoms are returning before your next visit, book in as soon as possible.
