Physiotherapy:

Athletic Therapy uses the sports medicine model of rehabilitation. Our approach tends to be more individualized, more one on one, more hands on, and more exercise based. Both often take 2 years after a degree. AT’s spend 2 years learning over 200 injuries and honing our palpation and assessment skills to best serve our clients. Physiotherapist have a very broad scope of practice and work in a variety of different environments (home care, hospital settings, Spinal cord injury rehab, etc.). We have a smaller more specialized scope of practice for injuries to muscles, bones, joints, etc. Athletic Therapists are also trained in emergency response.

Massage Therapy:

Athletic Therapy involves specialized assessment and diagnosis of the root cause of your issue. Athletic Therapists combine a variety of techniques that involve some massage style soft tissue releases as well as various mobilizations, stretches, movement based rehab and various other techniques learnt from continuous education courses. While Athletic Therapy often involves muscle release, it is usually in small sections for a specific purpose. If you come to an appointment and are just tight overall our team will likely refer you to get a massage before we do our work.
